Documentary and Law Directed Research Project

In my third year at UBC Law, I did a directed research project in the interdisciplinary field of documentary and law. My final project was an interview-based documentary with the title "Clarifying Fury and Joy" on the topic of trans rights in the Charter. A director's process blog post accompanies the video on the Canadian Network of Law & Humanities website, where the project is published.

“Tight Knit” Folklore Studies Documentary Film

As the final research assignment for ASIA 495: Folk Cultures in the Asian Diaspora, we were asked to think of an item of folklore that is present in our own lives, or the lives of those around us, and create a documentary about it. I chose knitting (and other related or similar fibre arts). The documentary was constructed according to folklorist codes of conduct and direct, respectful research & documentation of folklore from knitting community consultants.
