From the 9th to 11th grade, I worked closely with the community service office and one classmate to organize our Terry Fox Run each year.
We were responsible for organizing and presenting the run in assemblies while motivating students of all grade levels to get excited to participate. We secured a guest speaker to present during the assembly, we distributed pledge forms as well as collected and recorded donations. Finally after all of the hard work, we also animated the day of the run and ensured that everything went off without a hitch!
In our final year as organizers, we paired with the student counsel to create a carnival event after the run in the hopes of breaking our fundraising record. Not only did we break our record, but the event was a success that is still talked about to this day.
"[The counsel's] fundraising initiatives raised $20,000 for the Terry Fox Run this year." - Kathryn Greenway, Montreal Gazette (2012)
